SILA CANDANSAYAR

Exploring the Boundaries of Art and Philosophy

About

Sila Candansayar, born in 1997 in Ankara, Turkey, is an emerging artist whose work transcends conventional artistic boundaries. With a strong educational background in philosophy and a keen eye for artistic expression, Sila has rapidly made a name for herself in the contemporary art scene.

Sila's journey into the world of art began after she completed her philosophy studies at the Paris Pantheon Sorbonne. It was in the bustling artistic environment of Paris that she found her true calling. In 2020, she joined Dominique Figarella's studio at the prestigious Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris, embarking on a transformative artistic journey.

Her dedication and passion for her craft bore fruit when she completed her Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree in 2023, culminating in her thought-provoking exhibition, "No Place Like Home". This show served as a testament to her ability to blend her philosophical insights with her artistic creations, sparking critical conversations about the concept of "home" in an ever-changing world. Candansayar challenges viewers to take metaphorical steps, cross imagined thresholds, journey to unfamiliar places. Her works become sites where the familiar and the imaginary intersect. Both on the practical and metaphorical levels, Candansayar issues a challenge that we synthesize two types of volume. One, created by an object in space; the other, created by the resonance of expectations and the sounds of our own psyches.

Sila Candansayar's artistic talent has not gone unnoticed. She has been a part of numerous group exhibitions in Paris, showcasing her work at prominent venues such as the Palais de Beaux-Arts with her exhibition "Sur le Feu", where her art has garnered acclaim and admiration. Her participation in exhibitions like "Lascaux6" at espace nononono and "We were never human" at La Serre further solidified her reputation as an artist in the contemporary art world.

Currently, Sila is continuing her artistic journey by pursuing a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) at the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris. Her dedication to furthering her craft and exploring new artistic horizons is a testament to her commitment.

In November 2023, Sila Candansayar is set to take a significant step in her career by presenting her first solo exhibition “Tenders” at Cabinet Studiolo in Milan, Italy. This solo show promises to be the culmination of her artistic growth and an opportunity for art enthusiasts to experience her unique perspective.

Sila's passion for art knows no bounds as she prepares to embark on a 4-month university exchange program at La Esmeralda in Mexico City, Mexico. This international experience will undoubtedly provide her with new inspiration and insights that will shape her future work.

In her art, Sila Candansayar continues to explore the intersection of philosophy and visual expression, challenging viewers to think deeply and engage with the world in new and profound ways. With a promising future ahead, she is undoubtedly an artist to watch in the ever-evolving world of contemporary art.
